The aims of J2K are to bring properly presented, quality modern jazz music to the public at affordable prices. The organisation is self-funded and at present receives no external financial support. J2K is run by musicians, for musicians and the personnel involved have a wealth of experience in their art form, as well as in most aspects of the media in general.
The personnel behind J2K are:
Peter Hammond Peter is the founder of J2K and is himself an accomplished jazz pianist, having played for many years on the London and Bristol jazz scenes. He was Andy Sheppard's pianist in the mid-eighties and has since worked with many of today's top performers. Peter has also always had a career in television and video production. Originally BBC staff he now has his own small TV and video production company in West London. J2K is a personal venture for him which now gives him a regular and local outlet for his music. peter@j2k.org.uk
Keith Johnson Keith has a very similar background to Peter having also been BBC staff and now with his own company. With a science degree from Oxford, a solid musical education and an extremely impressive knowledge base, Keith is usually able to turn his hand to most things. He is a keen jazz and latin pianist and has a particular empathy with these music forms. His skills and enthusiasm for the J2K project have been invaluable. keith@j2k.org.uk
Dimitrios Evangelou Former Artsworld TV producer, Dimitrios has a comprehensive background in television production and the arts in general. His enthusiasm and support for J2K has been totally invaluable and he regularly takes the door position with Keith as well as organising and implementing a range of activities.
